Bringing A Knife To A Gun Fight

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/09/lone-star-stabbing-texas-community-college_n_3045991.html Lone Star Stabbing: Suspect Arrested After Texas Community College Attack CYPRESS, Texas — A student went on a building-to-building stabbing attack at a Texas community college Tuesday, wounding at least 14 people before being subdued and arrested, authorities said. The attack about 11:20 a.m. on the Lone Star Community College System's campus in Cypress sent at least 12 people to area hospitals, including four people taken by helicopter, according to Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department spokesman Robert Rasa. He said several people refused treatment at the scene and all the wounds were consistent with stabbing... (more) READ THE COMMENTS SECTION Many, many people saying that "Now Obama will ask for knife control" and so forth, ignoring how this proves our side of the argument, because if it had been an AR-15 with extended clip we wouldn't be reading about 14 wounded; more likely forty dead. They make no sense whatsoever, and don't even seem to try.

  1. Well, you can't blame them really, not if you watched Hannity talking to a bunch of conservative blacks blame the liberal Democrats for all their problems.

If not for all those liberals, according to Star Parker slavery would still be with us, who knows about womens' rights.

  2. I'm hoping that this is what happens when a core group of truly, deeply insane right-wing radicals is beginning to realize that they're slowly going down to defeat. I mean, take the gun issue... big movement today... who knew the families of the dead kids and teachers going to Washington and personally bugging the shit out of recalcitrant republicans would have any effect?

Jim Inhofe burst out with what he really feels today... you saw it if you watched Rachel tonight... said how bad it was that the administration was hurting those families like that... deceiving them.... basically called them duped rubes. If we get family reaction to that, and I think we will, it might go even further... the filibuster is already broken... amazing... I love how Mitch MacTurtle had just joined it, too.

  3. I like Mitch-baby's reaction to being caught wondering if he should bring up that Judd had had mental health issues. It's a left-wing conspiracy against him. LOL

According to David Corn of Mother Jones, there's no good reason to jump to conclusions that the tape was acquired the way Mitch-baby is speculating it did. He's just using the lack of information as a diversion.

  4. I was reading the old, "Obama is playing chess to their checkers!", meme again.

But look at the big picture. How did the USA get into such an ongoing crisis?

    Well,
Bush cut taxes mostly for the wealthy.
Bush, Cheney et al went to war for Iraq's oil and to make Haliburton, Boeing et al big profits.
Bush did that giant pharma thing to 'help' the seniors with their pills! But where does the money go? Big Pharma!
Republicans didn't give a shit about the debt or the deficit as long as Bush was President.
Obama bailed out the banks too and let the banks screw over people with mortgages. They screwed over Iceland and gawd knows who else.
Obama creates a stimulus package which is mostly tax breaks.
The congress then reduces the government's triple A rating.
Mostly the rich, not China(that's a diversion) benefit.
Obama is mostly on board with cuts to social programs, it's just a question of degree.
Obama signed off on the 'sequester', no? The rich right don't care if the war machine slows for a bit, that'll start up again easily enough.
At this point, anyone who thinks Obama is centre-left is under a delusion since there is no compromise between the haves and the have nots,(or as they like to couch it, the makers and the takers).

The right feel that all they have to do is block, block, block and they've won. What I'm saying is, is that the right have won. All that's left is this game of crises upon crises.

Look what Scott Walker did, the same thing as Bush. He got in power, reduced taxes for the wealthy and declared a crisis! And it worked!

It's no wonder Bush thinks that his Presidency will be remembered fondly by historians, they'll just rewrite history! And no-one who cares will notice, they'll be too busy caring about the latest series of crises.

Now, that's just excellent. I hope it catches on. I'd love it if one opened near me; my whole family would go every week.

  7. Everywhere I look online I''m seeing gun nuts EVERYWHERE, all saying that the families of the Sandy Hook victims are tools being used by 'Hussein..."

I guess they feel threatened, and like other wild animals they react.

Hope they don't win. Because they'll never, ever stop. They need to be beaten back into the wilderness politically. Shown to be what they are for all to see. And if I could think of a way to do that I wouldn't be here wasting time typing.

  9. Here's what Robert Reich says:-

The biggest economic debate has been between Keynesians, who want more government spending and lower interest rates, and supply-side "austerics," who want lower taxes on the wealthy and on corporations and who see government deficits crowding out private investment. We tried supply-side economics under George W. Bush and nothing trickled down, and austerity economics has been a disaster in Europe. Yet Keynesians don't have a clear answer for how much spending is necessary in an economy, like ours, in which wages keep dropping and budget deficits keep growing. (In making the Bush tax cuts permanent for 98 percent of taxpayers, hiking Social Security taxes back up, and enacting the sequester, we've now adopted supply-side austerity.)

Both sides neglect the scourge of widening inequality. When all of the economic gains go to the top, the rest don't have enough purchasing power to keep the economy going. That's exactly what's been happening. Four years into a so-called recovery and we're still below recession levels in every important respect except the stock market. A measly 88,000 jobs were created in March, and total employment remains some 3 million below its pre-recession level. Labor-force participation is it's lowest since 1979. Retail sales are down, and production of consumer goods and factory output still below what they were in 2008.

The underlying problem is real annual median household income keeps falling. It's down to $45,018, from $51,144 in 2010. Meanwhile, all the gains from the recovery have gone to the top. Yet without a large and growing middle class, we can't have a buoyant economy.

  10. A 1911 Springfield 45 with an 8 round clip would have been fine in this situation. I can't for the life of me see the need for a non-pyschopath/non-terrorist to need more than 8 rounds in a clip. If you are in a situation where 8 rounds isn't going to do it, you need to consider fleeing. We don't freaking live in Cimmeria for pities sake.

  11. Motherfucker, I am so pissed off at our government here in B.C. They jacked the price of tobacco up over $20 for 200g. Gawd knows how much a pack costs. Some $11 or $12 I guess.

They know they're getting booted 'cos they're assholes, so why not really stick it to the poor eh? It's almost as if they don't notice they're sticking it to the poor and then, when people start hating their guts for being assholes, they go, "Oh, you thought we were being assholes, we can be bigger assholes!"

We've been getting nothing but, "B.C. is doing great, we're cutting taxes(for the rich) and everything, see? Oops, need to jack up taxes for the workers tho', 'cos B.C. isn't doing too well you know!"

B.Cers are such suckers tho', and you know, NDP won't cut any regressive taxes, likely won't put taxes for the rich back up, no.

    Fuckers.

  12. Hey, did you notice that we got attacked in Boston? An hour away from me.

The NY Post immediately came out with a 'saudi national being questioned' and calling him a 'suspect.' Um, no.

Now let's see, this Boston Marathon had the 26 mile mark dedicated to the Newtown Shooting victims and had Newtown family in attendance and running in the race. Who'd rather bust up that party, an Arab, or a southern white asshole with an NRA membership? Methinks it's the latter.

  13. .. and the far-right nuts rushed in with the false-flag conspiracy theory and 'let's kill all the muslims now!', no matter who did it. It does look like some crazy right-winger, xenophobe gun nut, anti-government, anti-Obama, human reject, to me.

  14. I hope they can figure out who did it. What an awful thing to do.

  15. It's abominable, but of course terrorism is supposed to be abominable, right? But I suppose you only have to watch the news to notice how senseless it all is, Christians, supposedly good, charitable people, being onboard with drastic libertarian views, the makers versus the takers, and the pure divisiveness of it, gerrymandering districts to maintain an undemocratic base of legislators, arbitrary rules imposed in an attempt to disenfranchise voters, and this in the name of freedom and democracy! It's insane!

That 'for a good person to do evil, that requires religion' is in there, and of course 'tilting the field in one's favor' is in there, and it's ALLOWED!!

I don't know any judge trying a person for a crime that would let the accused off if the accused was using such tactics. Not for a middle-class/poor person, anyways. So there is the obvious double standard staring us in the face, adding to the above.

So, if one is rich, or a group perceives itself to be better somehow, through wealth, power and or religion, it's okay to use the above tactics, it's expected. This is a lot more noticeable in the age of the internet where news isn't playing catch up, where the other point of view isn't being discarded and ignored by all because they're only receiving biased, ideological news.

It's not surprising to me that someone could commit a senseless, horrific act in these circumstances. I cannot believe that there are such people as Randian Catholics, for example, but that's no more insane than child-molesting priests, is it?

  16. There is this right wing libertarian nut job I follow for masochistic reason (and entertainment value), and it cracked me up how quickly all the "false flag" talk stopped in the comment section once it was revealed these guys were Chechen.

  17. People like Rand Paul and Ted Cruz and those other assholes are still calling the Sandy Hook families tools and worse.
I can no longer comment on Huffington Post... they won't print any of my comments.... because frankly I can't be nice enough to these people to pass their ridiculous censors, who frankly I think are a convent of cloistered nuns in a mountain convent somewhere who have taken a vow of asshole.

  18. One fact in favor of the idea that all reality is a dreamlike vision: These republicans are too stupid to be real. They're caricatures of stupid.

  19. "If not for all those liberals, according to Star Parker slavery would still be with us, who knows about womens' rights"

This is backwards. Of course black conservatives are blaming liberals for the slavery in the first place.

They're trying to tell everyone that they're Republican, Lincoln was Republican, therefore it was the Democrats who were pro-slavery and since Democrats are liberals, it must have been the liberals who were pro-slavery!

Some of these black Conservatives must know that the parties did a 180 degree switch around, surely? Rand Paul did the same thing at that university he visited. They must think that we're all stupid.

Lincoln was a federalist anti-slaver who took the USA to war with the South. Republicans today would never call themselves federalists.

I guess they must feel it's worth a try though. I don't blame Rand Paul since he likely feels that ANY government is bad government so mixing and matching to make any particular one look bad is par for the course with him.

But the Black Republicans? They must feel that the majority of their 'brothers' and 'sisters' are just stupid.
